Martis Camp- Camp 12
Camp 12 is currently under construction on lot 12 in Martis Camp. It is a very efficient 1710sq ft eloquently designed by Ryan Group Architects. It was designed with the owners desire to have a very compact, efficient home that will be Green Point Rated, and would bring the feel of mountain setting indoors. Built on an estate lot of 1.5 acres, their mission was to disturb the land little and to leave as many trees as possible. The driveway winds through trees and rock outcropping to give the feeling of being nestled deep in the forest. The home was designed to preserve a 100’ tall pine tree and this can be seen in the somewhat V shape of the home. During the course of building this home, our goal was to choose products that were manufactured as close as possible to the project to further reduce the carbon emissions produced during shipping.
The foundation is a slab on grade partially used to minimize the amount for dirt spoils that would have to be hauled off, but mostly for solar gain during the winter from the large south facing window wall. The walls will be filled with a hybrid insulation of closed cell Foam and blown in fiberglass, . The closed cell foam provides an excellent air seal that will highly reduce the amount of outside air exchanges and will produce an extremely high energy efficient wall assembly. R-Control SIP’s, (Structurally Insulated Panels) were used on the two large roof sections to create a very high R-value roof assembly. Before the siding is installed we are installing ½”rigid foam sheathing on the exterior to help minimize thermal bridging. the exterior siding will be reclaimed grey barn wood siding from Trestlewood Inc .The home’s windows consists of Kolbe wood windows and doors. The entire interior ceiling will be 1×6 vertical grain fir supplied by the local lumber yard Truckee Tahoe Lumber.
